How Can ISPs Enter Security?

Internet service providers (ISPs) have been the natural and dominant solution for delivering the first two needs, comfort and convenience, to their customers via broadband. However, ISPs have struggled to meet the third need, safety, by developing and marketing effective security solutions. To penetrate the security market, ISPs need to take a different approach and capitalize on their most valuable resource: WiFi. By focusing on their strengths, ISPs can establish security solutions as a core part of their service offerings.

Next Generation of Aura home security system honored at CES

Cognitive Systems has launched an updated version of its Aura home monitoring system, which detects movement using Wi-Fi signals. The Aura system includes a hub and a small remote sensor that plugs into a wall outlet, and can detect and differentiate between people, pets and mechanical movement. The system sends an alert to the owner's phone or can activate an alarm in the hub if it detects unexpected motion. The new version of Aura integrates with other smart home devices, allowing users to control lights, cameras and other connected devices based on motion triggers.
